INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY 2009
SUSTAINABILITY: Our Challenge. Our Future


Young people - are disproportionately affected by HIV and AIDS. Young people under 25 represent almost half of new HIV infections occurring annually. However, we are often excluded and marginalized in the global response; despite international commitments such as the UNGASS Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS which explicitly state young people’s right to participate. More over the recent CPD 2009 document stated the urgency of active participation on young people at HIV & AIDS issues, globally. Hence, Accumulatively by 2007 in Asia and the Pacific there were around 1,280,000 young people living with HIV and AIDS.

Every year on August 12th, there will be worldwide campaign to commemorate International Youth Day. It is expected that young people, has access to express them self and to be informed about issues being face. As we move on in recent situation SRHR issues, especially HIV & AIDS is become prominent cases that has to be concerning about young people.
This year IYD themes is SUSTAINABILITY: Our Challenge. Our Future.

As the commemoration of IYD, we are having an AIDS WALK on August 12th at ICAAP congress venue. We are hoping, the activity will raise awareness on YOUTH MEANINGFUL PARTICIPATION on SRHR.
